The history of war has always been remembered by the triumphs in major battles. The victories are promoted as actions that bestow honor. The losses are largely forgotten.
Those victories — both major and minor — as well as the mistakes, and the accidents were paid for by the Average Joe: individuals who died in action and are quickly forgotten in the scope and depth of the tragedy.
“Are you a hero?”
When asked this question, most veterans will respond with a resounding no. The title “Hero” is reserved for those who fell behind; the men and women who paid the ultimate price and made the greatest sacrifice in the service of our country.
For the last 70 years, those who did make it home have told the stories of those who fell behind. But now, those voices are also fading into the void of time.

USAKilledinActionMap.com offers a new way to preserve the stories. By granting public access to the mortuary records of each service member in our database.
This searchable format allows individuals to be tied to complex battle scenes.
This history, preserved for future generations, will provide a first had vision of our brave patriots.
We are starting small, but as time goes on, names and information will be added to the map.

A Search for Answers
USAKilledinActionMap.com was born out of a project started nearly two decades ago as a personal search for an uncle only mentioned in whispers.
Through exhaustive research, we learned of the battles, the victories and defeats, but still had no connection to the individual. We were eventually led to the Trailblazers of the 70th division Association. The soldiers who came home knew the stories, and were happy to tell them.
This led to a determination, it is time the stories of those who were killed in battle must become a priority before they are lost.
